Not Real Estate:
During the October 2003 wildfires, a CNN photographer came to town. Wanting an aerial shot, he called a nearby airport and arranged for a pilot to fly him over the fires. In a rush, he walked down the row of planes, said a quick hello to the pilot, and off they went. Flying over Julian, he asked him to fly lower. When the pilot asked why, he said he wanted better photos for CNN. The pilot’s response: “CNN? I thought you were my flight instructor!”

“Hi Gary. Love your newsletter. I want to know, when you’re looking for a home and find one you really like, how long do you think it’s OK to think about it before making an offer.

***ANSWER:
He who hesitates is lost. Even in today’s market, if a home is attractive &/or attractively priced, someone else may have seen it yesterday and is planning to make an offer today.

I’ve seen too many good people wait even just one hour too long and lose their dream home or end up paying thousands of dollars more because another offer came in and they had to pay more to beat it.

I sum it up this way:

“Take as long as you need, but as little as you must.”

 

HomeSELLING Question


"We interviewed two agents to sell our home in Alpine. We mentioned to the first one that we're also talking to a certain well-known agent who has sold signs all over our area. That first agent said she could give me better service and do a better job than the other agent because she’s not as busy. I'm not sure I buy that, since the busy agent must be busy because he does a good job and can probably market my home better. What say you?"

***ANSWER:
That agent is trying to use "real estate spin" to get your business.

Many real estate firms teach their agents tricky sales techniques. One is to try to "spin" their biggest drawback into a supposed benefit: "Because I'm not busy, I'll give you better service." It’s clever salesmanship, but it’s dishonest.

What they're ultimately saying is, "You should hire me because I'm not successful and don't have many clients."

Doesn’t sound so good, does it? And consider the following questions:

Which restaurant serves better food...the one with the full parking lot or the empty one?

Which attorney do you want defending you...the successful one winning cases for his clients, or the one with the wide-open calendar?

Which surgeon do you want taking a scalpel to you...the seasoned surgeon who does your surgery every day, or one who does it once in a while?

Investing or Financing Question
"What is Fannie Mae?"

***ANSWER:
Fannie Mae or FNMA, stands for the Federal National Mortgage Association.

It’s a privately held corporation created by Congress to support the secondary mortgage market. It’s a major market for buying and selling home loans and they have certain critical guidelines.
If a loan doesn’t meet FNMA guidelines, it’s harder to sell, which typically results in a higher interest rate.
